Fidya and Kaffarah

The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “Whoever gives Iftaar to one who is fasting will have a reward like his, without that detracting from the reward of the fasting person in the slightest.” (Source - Tirmidhi)

Make up for the fasts you miss or break this Ramadan, either by fasting, or by donations known as Fidya and Kaffarah. Pay your Fidya or Kaffarah easily through Mama Welfare Organisation..

£5 – Fidya: provides two meals for missing one fast with a valid reason.

£25 – Fidya five days: provides ten meals.

£150 – Fidya whole month: provides sixty meals.

£300 – Kaffarah: provides a meal to 60 people to compensate for one deliberately broken fast.

For just £5 a day, your Fidya donation can make a huge difference to the most vulnerable people in the world, those whose hunger never ends. By fulfilling this duty, you can give a fasting person a nutritious Iftar and Suhoor meal. From just £5 a day or £150 for the entire month, give your Fidya now.

When you are unable to fast, Allah (swt) still allows you to share in the reward of Ramadan by donating Fidya to those most vulnerable.

Fidya is obligatory upon the person who cannot fast for a valid health-related reason.

Fidya provides two meals to a fasting person in a select number countries. This year, we’ll be delivering your Fidya to Pakistan to feed nutritious, filling meals to fasting families.

For people with a valid reason not to fast–such as, pregnancy, nursing, illness or travel, then it is encouraged that you make your fasts up after the month of Ramadan. If, for some reason, you’re unable to make up the fasting days that you’ve missed, then you can pay Fidya.

If you know that you won’t be able to make up your missed fasts later on, then it’s better to pay your Fidya in advance so that you can help vulnerable people to break their fast this Ramadan.

If you skip a day of fasting on purpose, without a valid excuse, then you are required to fast 60 consecutive days. If you can’t fast for 60 days straight, then you can pay Kaffarah, which feeds 60 hungry people. You must do this for every day that you missed.

Fidya or Kaffarah?

Fidya – Pay this if you missed a day of fasting but had a valid reason. A Fidya donation will provide two meals to a poor person and you can fulfil this duty quickly and easily though Mama Wefare Organisation for just £5.

Kaffarah – Pay this if you miss or break your fast without a valid reason. You must either fast for 60 consecutive days or feed 60 poor people, at a cost of £5 per person, for a total of £300 per fasting day missed.

Fulfilling your obligation can provide two nutritious meals, which can make all the difference to someone in need, providing energy, strength and improving their health.

Your Fidya can also provide joy, hope, and comfort to someone who has lost everything and who would otherwise fear how they will make it through each day.

We are helping people in Pakistan:

● Food packs containing staple foods and supplies

● Nutrition for the vulnerable and sick

● Iftar meals to provide relief to those fasting

In a year like no other, your support means more than ever.

Pay your Fidya or Kaffarah.
